Dulce Neck Cozy
Skill Level: Easy
This is a fun and super fast project. Perfect for last minute gift giving or just some instant gratification. Do make sure that you keep the first/last stitches of every row in garter stitch. Without this little border the edges will curl! (I person- ally forgot this when knitting the blue version, so keep that in mind when comparing yours to my photo.) The yarn information below gives the requirements for both neck cozies shown.
Materials
Dulce Neck Cozy # 1 (Blues)
NOTE: This version is worked with 2 strands DK weight yarn held together.
Yarn
2 skeins Rowan Tapestry in Whirlpool (DK weight. About 262 yds total)
Needles
Size 11 (I didnʼt bother with gauge. Shame on me, I know)
Extras
2 buttons measuring 1” diameter (I used handmade buttons from Briar Rose Fibers)
Dulce #2 (Browns)
Note: This version is worked single stranded with smaller needles and a few more stitches.
Yarn
di.Veʼ Autunno; Color: Navajo
Needles
US size 9
Extras
2 buttons around 3/4” diameter
The Pattern
Cast on 30 (40) sts (or other even number)
Row 1 (RS): K4, [slip 1, k1, yarn over, pass slipped stitch over knit stitch and yarn over] repeat to last 4 sts, k4
Row 2 (WS): K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
*Repeat these two rows until you have worked 2”
Button hole rows
(This is optional. If knitting seems loose enough you may skip button holes and simply push the buttons through the knit fabric)
1: (RS): K4, work pattern 2x (3x), bind off 2 stitches, k1, work pattern 4x (7x), bind off 2 stitches, k1, finish row in pattern to last 4 sts, k4.
2: (WS): K3, purl to bound off stitches, cast on 2, purl to next button hole, cast on 2, purl across to last 3 sts, k3.
Next Row 1: K4, [slip 1, k1, yarn over, pass slipped stitch over knit stitch and yarn over] repeat to last 4 sts, k4
Next Row 2: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
*Continue working these last 2 rows until piece measures desired length.
Finishing
Sew on the buttons, weave in the ends, and youʼre good to go!
