Frosty Morning Fingerless Gloves
Skill Level: Intermediate

A knit fingerless glove pattern

These fingerless gloves are a perfect quick little knit for gift giving. Worked up on US size 7 & 8 needles using a heavy worsted/Aran weight yarn, you can finish a glove in an evening, or an entire pair in a day if you're daring.

Thumb is a simple opening with no gusset shaping. It provides maximum movement so you can easily wear these gloves while fiddling, or whatever floats your boat. Wrist of gloves features a button closure. Pewter buttons shown (style: "Starstruck") are hand crafted from lead free pewter in small batches from Roosterick Designs.

Frosty Morning
Fiddle Tune History

The fiddle tune “Frosty Morning,” also known as “Cold, Frosty Morning,” memorializes the battle of Culloden Moor. On the very bloody morning of April 16, 1746, 8,000 English troops massacred a Scottish army of 7,000. Thus ended the Jacobite Rebellion in Scotland. It did not, however, end the bloodshed. In order to ensure that the rebellion would not be rekindeled, King George II gave the Duke of Cumberland instructions to punish the Scots. And so, after their victory on April 16, the English army set out to hunt down and kill any Highlander they could find whether guilty or innocent. In some cases this also meant the murder of women and children. These acts earned the Duke of Cumberland the infamous title of  “The Butcher.”
