Timbre is the quality of a musical tone that distinguishes its voice from that of other notes or sounds. The timbre of a musical instrument is what makes it unique and identifiable from other instruments. When you listen to a song and can identify a specific instrument within the mix you are hearing its voice due to its unique timbre. Timbre is sometimes also called tone color.
This design is worked in the round from the bottom upward. After completing the 2x2 ribbed section you will move on to the tweed portion. For the majority of the design you will only be working with one color at a time (the tweed stitch is a type of mosaic pattern). However, once you reach the crown shaping you will need to begin working stranded knitting to allow for all the decreases to be worked in the same color.
