The Harvest Shawlette is designed and named in honor of the Greek goddess Demeter and her Roman equivalent Ceres. In their respective mythologies, these goddesses preside over harvest, grain, and fertility.
Works Well With: Variegated yarn.
Hand dyed variegated yarn makes this design shine. Simple stitches let the color do the work without getting in the way.
Harvest is knit from the bottom up in one piece.
I won’t lie, making it past the first 3 rows of this design can be a challenge. The cast on is very long due to forming the shell-like loops. Use stitch markers at regular intervals during cast on and you’ll be fine. Also, since it requires a long tail cast on, make sure to start with a tail several yards long to prevent running out.
When blocking the shawl use flexible blocking wires to accentuate the circular edge.
