Sitting in Trees
Fingerless mitts inspired by the Hobbit
Part of A Hobbit's Journey
Skill Level: Intermediate
Working knit stitches through the back loops makes the leaf pattern pop from the reverse stockinette background.
I knit my mitts using a gauge of 4.5 stitches per inch in the twisted seed stitch rib. This gave me an 8 inch palm following the smaller size. You can easily change the size of your finished mitts by varying yarn weight and gauge. The table below lists stitches per inch, cast on number, and finished palm size. The stitch pattern necessary for your gauge swatch is written below in the materials section.
