A top down knit shawl pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate

The Tea Leaf shawl is worked from the top (shortest row) out and down to the longest row. On the final right side rows several yarn overs are added across the length at the tip of each leaf. Without matching decreases these yarn overs cause the edge of the shawl to scallop delicately once blocked.

The stitch pattern through the shawl is based on a leaf motif. As the shawl grows the leaves grow longer as well.

Yarn 
1 skein Fiddle Knits Fibers, Duet
[2 plies 100% superwash merino / 1 ply merino; 400 yds; 100 g;
sport weight], Color: “Sweet Tea” 

Needles 
US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needle (32” cable or longer) 
Adjust needle size to obtain correct gauge. 

Notions 
2 stitch markers 
Tapestry needle for weaving ends

68 inch wingspan x 20 inches deep at widest part 
Measurements taken after blocking. 

Pattern For Gauge 
Cast on 21 sts 
Row 1: K5, [yo, sk2p, yo, k5] twice. 
Row 2: Purl 

Pre-Blocking = 6 inches wide 
Post-Blocking = 8 inches wide 

Use needles necessary to achieve post blocking gauge for your finished shawl to be the same size as the photographed sample.
