A lacy beret pattern

Wise Nora is an airy summer beret knit from a lightweight blend of cotton and linen. The cabled brim band is worked first. Stitches are then picked up along one edge for the lace top.

US size 3 (3.25mm) straight or circular,
or size needed to obtain gauge (used for brim/ties).

US size 5 (3.75mm) 16” circular or size needed to obtain gauge (used for main body of hat).

Set of US size 5 (3.75mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge (used for decrease portion of hat).

Size 3 needles: 10 sts & 1 rep (8 rows) of Rapunzel’s Braid (brim band section) = 1.25 x 1”

Size 5 needles: 22 sts & 28 rnds = 4” in stockinette stitch

Pick up 136 sts (1 sts in each row) along edge of Rapunzel Braid NOT along edges of 1x1 rib; work 8 sts of ribbing, PM to note rnd. [152 sts total]
Knit 1 rnd.
Work Rnds 1–8 of Rosary Stitch 4 times total for moderate slouch, or 5x through for a slouchier version. (Hat shown has 4 repeats.)
Rnd 1 & 3: [yo, k2, sk2p, k2, yo, k1]
