The Pattern
Brim Band
Use size 3 / 3.25 mm needles

CO 10 sts
Work 1x1 rib (k1, p1) for 7”
Work Rows 1–8 of Rapunzel’s Braid 17 (18) times total
Work 1x1 rib (k1, p1) for another 7”
Bind off in pattern.

Rapunzel's Braid
Row 1 (WS): p1, k2, p5, k1, p1
Row 2 (RS): k1, p1, k3, Right Twist, p2, k1
Row 3: p1, k2, p5, k1, p1
Row 4: k1, p1, Left Twist, Right Twist, Left Twist, p1, k1
Row 5: p1, k1, p5, k2, p1
Row 6: k1, p2, Left Twist, k3, p1, k1
Row 7: p1, k1, p5, k2, p1
Row 8: k1, p1, Right Twist, Left Twist, Right Twist, p1, k1


Main Body
Use size 5 (3.75mm) needles.

Cast on 16 sts
Work 2x2 (k2, p2) ribbing for 0.5”
Pick up 136 sts (1 sts in each row) along edge of Rapunzel Braid NOT along edges of 1x1 rib; work 8 sts of ribbing, PM to note rnd. [152 sts total]
Knit 1 rnd.
Work Rnds 1–8 of Rosary Stitch 4 times total for moderate slouch, or 5x through for a slouchier version. (Hat shown has 4 repeats.)
Rnd 1 & 3: [yo, k2, sk2p, k2, yo, k1]
Rnd 2 and all even rnds: knit
Rnd 5 & 7: k2tog, k1, yo, k1, yo, k2, sk2p, [k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, sk2p] 17 times, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk.
Rnd 8: knit


Decreases
Change to dpns when necessary.

Rnd 1 (Dec): k3tog, [yo, k1, yo, k1, ssk, k3tog, k1] to last 3 sts, k3tog. (132 sts remain)
Rnd 2: Knit
Rnd 3 (Dec): [yo, k1, sk2p, k1, yo, ssk] to last 6 sts, yo, k1, sk2p, k1, yo, k1. (114 sts remain)
Rnd 4: Knit

Rnd 6 (Dec): k1, [skp, k3] to last 4 sts, skp, k2 (76 sts remain)
